PBIS stands for
Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports
PBIS is a way for schools to encourage good behavior. With PBIS, schools teach kids about behavior, just as they would teach about other subjects like reading or math. The focus of PBIS is prevention, not punishment.
Southwest Middle School has adopted the following umbrella rules.
- Be respectful.
- Treat yourself, others, and property with respect.
- Listen to directions.
- Use appropriate voice and language.
- Be responsible.
- Stay on task.
- Complete assigned tasks.
- Take ownership for your actions.
- Be prepared.
- Be on time.
- Bring materials to class.
- Be prepared to learn.
